An exemption can start at any date in the year and can have a maximal duration of 1 year. The request needs to be submitted by the aircraft operator at least 3 months prior to the start of the exemption. The approval process is due 1 month before the start of the exemption.
The approval authority (linked to the departing airport) can modify the end date of an exemption request if the cause of the operational or supply difficulty is known and ends before the requested end date.
When providing the start date in the exemption function the date picker of the end date will not allow a date longer than 1 year.
A few examples:
- Start date 30st of March and end date 25th of October (to cover the IATA summer season);
- Start date 1st of June and end date 31st of May (to cover 1 full year, or 365 days);
- Start date 1st of January and end date 31st of December.
