for Competent Authorities and EASA only
The Community functionality is a new area within the EASA Sustainability Portal designed to foster knowledge sharing between Competent Authorities (CAs). It provides an ideal environment for many-to-many communication and knowledge retention. It can be used to share ideas, ask questions, and follow specific topics to stay informed.
Community Structure
The community is organized hierarchically to keep discussions structured and easy to navigate:
- Groups: The top-level categories. Only EASA can create Groups.
- Topics: Specific discussion threads within a Group. Both CAs and EASA users can create Topics.
- Comments & Replies: Responses to a Topic. Both CAs and EASA users can post these.
At launch, the following Groups are available:
- ReFuelEU Aviation General
Note: All CA users have been automatically added to this group on 3rd of March 2026) - 5.2 Justifications
- Sustainability Portal
How to Use the Community
- Access the Community: You can access the community clicking "Community" in the left-hand menu.
- Join a Group: Browse the available groups and click "Join" to become a member. Joining a group ensures you will be notified whenever a new topic is created within that group.
- Create a Topic: Navigate to a group and click the "Start topic" button on the right-hand side.
- You can draft your post, attach images and files, and choose to "Save as draft" to preview it or "Save and Publish" to post it directly.
- Follow a Topic: To stay updated on a specific topic, click "Follow topic" on the right-hand side of the post. You will be notified of all new comments and replies. Note: You do not need to be a member of a group to follow a specific topic, and if you comment or reply to a topic, you will automatically start following it.
Staying Informed (Notifications)
You do not need to constantly check the portal to see if someone has replied. Community alerts are fully integrated into the portal's daily email digest. You will receive digest updates when new topics are posted in your joined groups, or when new comments are added to your followed topics.
Best Practices for Creating Topics
To help everyone find information easily, please use the following best practices when starting a new topic:
- Avoid generic titles and make them descriptive
- Suggest title templates “Where - Who - What”
Especially relevant for 5.2 justification - Do: ICAO Code - Airline A - Issue X
- Don’t: 5.2 justification question
- Suggest title templates “Where - Who - What”
- Keep the body text short: Be concise and create links where relevant.
Provide attachment: Attach relevant images and files to the topic
